Telmessos

Ancient text mention that there was a huge theater at Telmessos. İn 1993, during excavations performend by Fethiye Museum, seating in the theater was found under 3-4 meters of soil and debris. As a result of studies continued until 1995, all the ruins existing from the original theater can be seen today. İt is understood that it was constructed in the early Roman period, and repaired in the th century BC and had a capacity for seating 5000 people. İt was used as an arena during the Byzantine period. A project to repair the Telmessos Theater, for use with a capacity of 1500 people, has been completed and concerts are frequently held there during the summer months.
